We reached out to Tsepo, a young dutch DJ currently holding down a residency at ‘Trouw Amsterdam’, supporting acts such as Nuno Dos Santos and Laurent Garnier. Tsepo shares some truths about himself and what plans he has for the future, read on for more info!
So who is Tsepo?
Im a 23 year old dj and producer, born in the east of the Netherlands and now residing in Amsterdam
You landed a residency at Dutch club Trouw, are you enjoying it?
I enjoy it a lot! It is a special place with only great lineups. It is an honour to warm up for already established artists. Last time I played there was on a sunday where I was doing the warmup for Michael Mayer. After his six hour set we eventually played back to back for almost 2 hours. This is something that doesn’t happen in other clubs so that is one of the reasons why this club is special to me.
What are you playing in your sets at the moment?
Here are a few tracks that I play a lot at the moment and this is a small selection in no particular order.
Orson Wells – Endless
Gus Gus – Crossfade (Konstantin Sibold Remix)
Mark Henning – Exit Acid
Mattheis – Prism2
Samo DJ – Tai Po Kau
Eduardo de la Calle – Somewhere In Your Arms
Simon Haydo – Keep Your Distance
Oceanic – Kobo
Margot – Waldorf (Erol Alkan Remix)
Gilb’r, Professor Genius, Acid Arab, The Habibeats, SHADI KRIES – Rum
DJ Broadcast Magazine put you in the spotlight as ‘One to watch in 2014’, how does it feel?
It feels really good to get some recognition, especially from an established platform like DJ Broadcast. Although it is great to get the recognition, there is some pressure to fullfill this status. It is sometimes hard to coop with it but I still enjoy the status.
Lastly, can you clue us in on any productions or future plans you’re currently working on?
I am currently just making music and see what is coming out of the studio(read bedroom). There was some material almost ready for Nuno dos Santos’ label Something Happening Somewhere but I have the feeling that my material isn’t good enough yet to release. So hopefully in the beginning of 2015 I have gained enough producing skills to release on that label.
