“Taking many inspirations from the novel Dracula, I explored the meaning of what it is to have a second skin in this yearning love song. Whether this defines emotional armour or making one stronger, a second skin is a part of every human process.”
Seattle based artist Maiah Manser draws influence from names such as Bjork, Kate Bush and FKA Twigs and implements the creative wisdom generated from it into producing her own unique brand of noir pop.
This year has seen Manser on quite the productive spree, producing a fifteen minute piece for LA dance group the TL Collective, as well as performances at Capitol Hill Block Party, Bumbershoot Festival and the artist has just recently performed a collection of her original songs at St. Marks Catherdral in Seattle.
Manser’s most recent single, Second Skin, has received a new interpretation thanks to Swizz electronic artist Wassily. The producer’s dreamy, trip hop influenced sound goes hand in hand with Manser’s Dracula inspired original. The track is given a new perspective, one that doesn’t take away from its sibling, but instead builds upon it.
Wassily’s remix of Second Skin is out on Freakout Records on November 18th.
