Peggy Gou’s ‘Winter Sun’ Playlist

peggy gou, soundspace, interview, shine, belfast

This is a playlist of tracks I find really great to relax to and enjoy a bit of sun in February. They are not tracks I would play in clubs, but they are arranged in the order that I think flows nicely as a set, it starts off with a hypnotic track by Black Merlin that was recorded in Bali, which is a beautiful and very special place for me where I go to escape the Berlin winter.

Then the rest of the tracks include laid back hip hop from Mos Def and James Blake, some sunny balearic-style electronica by Portico Quartet, Andras Fox and International Feel’s Mark Barrott, and some jazz & funk influenced house by Ron Trent, Jay Daniel and Larry Heard.

This playlist can be used to bring yourself some sunshine in the middle of winter, or it can be chillout listening for the morning after this weekend’s gig at Shine in Belfast. I’m really looking forward to my first visit to the city, and my debut at the club. I just played Sub Club in Glasgow with the residents Harri & Dominic, it was a really great night with amazing energy, but when I told Harri I was playing Shine this weekend even he told me to “get ready!” – so it really must be a great crowd to play to! Can’t wait!
