People should prepare themselves before hitting play on multi award winning producer M-Phazes’ brand new remix of Kimbra’s latest single ‘90s Music’. As soon as it begins the listener will be transported back, circa 1994.
‘90s Music’ pays homage to the decade of pure pop, with Kimbra’s high pitched vocals reiterating how sickly sweet the 1990s could be. M-Phazes’ interpretation of the original begins with an RnB vibe that slowly melts into thumping Miami bass, sprinkled with a handful of samples to send the audience on a vivid trip down memory lane.
M-Phazes’ rework is both nostalgic and futuristic. Build- ing on the synth loaded, hyper-coloured original, a progression of smooth drum claps and finger snaps have been added, forming a sound you’d hear in a Harijuku DDR arcade.
The remix is one born out of divine chaos, leaving the listener wanting their 90’s wardrobe back and a one-way ticket to Tokyo.
