French artist Jeremy Underground has caused a stir following a conversation between Edinburgh promoter Abstrakt and his management team was made public on the promoters Facebook page.
Jeremy was scheduled to play Abstrakt’s launch party this Friday (15th September) but he was seemingly unhappy with the promoters choice of accommodation, even though it fit their initial demand of a 4* hotel.
Following a back and forth and the promoter booking another hotel, this time 5* rated, the artist and his team then asked for a specific hotel chain, which according to Abstrakt would have put them over £1,500 in the red.
Jeremy Underground was then removed from the line up, his replacement is yet to be announced but will play b2b with Sub Club resident Domenic Cappello and be supported by Kieran Apter.
“It is with regret that we have decided to cancel the performance of Jeremy Underground at this Friday’s Abstrakt launch party. We have done so as a point of principle, against certain DJs/artists bullying small promoters and holding them to ransom over ridiculous demands.”
“We simply don’t want to work with someone like this. For these reasons, we’re going to cancel the booking.”
Screenshots of a conversation between Underground’s booking agent and the promoter then show his team telling Abstrakt “I am going to fuck you man.”, “I am on your case.”
The event now has an extended 4am license and tickets have been reduced to just £6, any original ticket holders can redeem the extra cost on the night.
