Techno DJ Dax J has received death threats following his set at a club in Nabeaul, Tunisia, where he reportedly featured the Muslim call to prayer in his performance.
Dax was performing as part of Orbit Festival, near the town of Hammamet, where fellow artists Radio Slave, La Fleur and DVS1 were also performing. His set took place on Friday, with clips emerging on April 1st showing people dancing to the Muslim prayer samples in the track.
Tunisia is a majority Muslim country and the set incited the attention of officials within the area. The festival have since apologised for the incident but have refreshingly chosen to defend the artist, stating that Dax J didn’t realise that the track may offend a Muslim audience.
Dax J himself has also apologised.
