The spread of the COVID-19 virus has forced Governments to limit social gatherings to small groups and essential interaction only, and the music and entertainment industries are rapidly suffering.
Without the ability to hold parties, bars and nightclubs are put under extreme pressure when it comes to paying rent and their staff.
Berlin club ://about blank are one club under such pressure, and have taken to a crowdfunding site with the aim of collecting enough money to keep staff paid and expenses under control.
Stand-out bookings for the club include sets from Bambounou, De Sluwe Vos, Legowelt, Kode9, Airod, Move D, Spencer Parker, Stenny, Luke Vibert and Bas Mooy.
“We didn’t do :// about blank to get rich, but to do our part to make the world a better place. Our economic model tries to counter the ubiquitous impositions of capitalist exploitation – and, like many sub-cultural and club-cultural projects, is now facing the end due to the corona-related closure. As a collectively organized cooperative, we therefore urgently and quickly need your financial help.”
The crowdfunding campaign, which currently sits at €29,217 with 497 backers has a final goal of €100,000, and will run until March 31st. Donation rewards range from €10 to €1,999 and include branded keychains, slip mats, postcards, shot glasses, lifetime guestlist and a private party at the club.
