Hessle Audio, since 2007, have bridged the gap between techno, grime and dubstep with a vast array of infectious and immersive sounds. Label heads David Kennedy (Ramadanman & Pearson Sound), Ben Thomson (Ben UFO) and Kevin McAuley (Pangaea) have been credited with the nurturing of groundbreaking artists that have contributed massively to the gritty, raw aesthetic of UK music.
Hessle Audio releases have now been clocked by James Blake, Kowton, Peverelist, Blawan and Objekt. Their back catalogue is a wonderful showcase of their fusion of styles. Dominated by subtle details and fiery percussion, Hessle Audio continues to break the boundaries of genre restriction and sets the standard for labels everywhere. Here’s a few of our favourites from the London imprint.

Cosmin TRG – Put You Down
The German Cosmin TRG is an artist blessed with the ability to craft immersive soundscapes, hard hitting whilst maintaining a comforting aura. Not only a gifted producer, Cosmin has developed quite the reputation as a DJ, radiating hypnotic and seductive sound to audiences in fabric and Berghain.
Put You Down/Broken Heart was the first release on Hessle Audio back in June 2007. The A-side is a wonderful example of Cosmin TRG’s work. Eerie, machine like noise can be heard from the start before a broken drum pattern is introduced alongside dreamy atmospheres.
A Ne-yo sample from Ghostface Killa’s ‘Back Like That’ adds an R&B vibe to the track before things really kick off.
