Barnaby Carter is an artist born and bred in Portishead, a neighbouring town to Bristol, who’s early says were filled with the post rock sounds of Radiohead and Mogwai. Carter’s first exposure to electronic music came as a teenager; the IDM sounds of Aphex Twin and Boards of Canada becoming huge influences on his future work.
While It Still Blooms is Carters debut album and it is an immersive introduction into the ambient soundscapes that radiate from his productions. “The positive melancholy of “While It Still Blooms” is his testament to acceptance, creativity, and simplicity.”
We’ve got the lead track from Carter’s impending album. Post rock influences are very evident from the get go of ‘Ought’ve’. This is a track to vibe out to. Shaking vocals can be heard amongst calming, melancholic strings as a low, deep bassline keeps the pace. As the track continues strings become even more emotional; something to have playing whilst looking out the window on a rainy day.
While It Still Blooms is out 28th October on Project Mooncircle.
