Fresh Picks: Kaiserdisco

Fresh Picks with Kaiserdisco for April Soundspace

Hamburg duo Kaiserdisco have been flying the flag of techno and deep tech for quite some time, having remixed top shelf names like Sian, Jay Lumen and Christian Smith and put original music out on Drumcode, Get Physical and Suara.

The pair also host other producers via their KD Music and KD RAW imprints, previous releases have featured Dema, Paride Saraceni and Rob Hes. We caught up with them to find out their top selections from April in a brand new series; Fresh Picks.

Darren Emerson – Deadlock
Label: Intec
Release: 28th April

We had the pleasure of meeting Darren a few years ago in Bali. He is such a nice guys and so down to earth. His track ‘Deadlock’ is a bubbling acid track with fast flowing hi-fats and clap rhythms which works perfect on the dancefloor and fits brilliantly in our sets. We can totally understand why Carl has signed this one to his Intec label.

&lez – Colybri (Paco Osuna Remix)
Label: Mindshake
Release: 28th April

Paco Osuna’s remix of Colybri is one of our peak time weapons at the moment. The combination of the rolling bassline and drums are massive on the dance floor. We both hate the vocals because they are so flat but they do actually make the track pretty unique. Paco does not produce a lot, so we are always happy to get new material to play as his tracks always work great in our sets.

Truncate – Ideas
Label: Skryptom
Release: 28th April

Patrick and I are huge fans of Truncate. We met David a while ago in Vienna at the airport when he was on his way to play in our hometown of Hamburg. His track ‘Ideas’ is featured on the 10 years of Skryptom compilation with lots of other great artists, including Laurent Garnier. This track has the trademark Truncate drum settings and features his short vocal snippets, which we love. Some would say it’s nothing special, but it is one of those tracks which stands out from the masses.

DAST – Raid Zone (Juan Sanchez Remix)
Label: OFF Recordings
Release: 10th April

We already played a couple of tracks in the past of DAST aka Daniele Strazzulo from Naples in Italy. This time he has delivered a simple but absolutely rocking chord track.

The original mix is already a great one, but in our opinion the Juan Sanchez Remix rocks even more, and is a bit more diversified because Juan played around with the chord theme a little bit more to create an incredible energy through the track. It fits perfectly in our set at the moment, so that’s the reason why we even picked this one for our ‘Record Of The Month’ in our monthly KD Music Radio Show.

Alex Costa – When In Turin
Label: KD RAW
Release: 17th April

We have been working together with Alex for quite a while now and signed many of his tracks for our labels KD Music and KD RAW already. This time we released a two track EP on KD RAW with the ‘Soft Module’ and ‘When in Turin’. As always, Alex shows his typical and very unique sound with this funky and freaky production. It’s a chord track, but Alex was able to create a track which grooves to the max, which you can’t help but dance to.

Josh Wink – Resist-Apella (No Acid Version)
Label: Ovum Recordings
Release: 21st April

We have been big fans of Josh and of Ovum for so many years now. ‘Resist’ is another masterpiece where he shows he’s still one of the best in the business. He did another great job at the vocal processing, editing and programming and combined it with his trademark minimalistic acid sound. We mostly play the ‘No Acid Version’ of this one, because it starts quite empty and simple, so it can be played and mixed together with other tracks before it hits peak time craziness.

Kaiserdisco’s Knocking Echoes is out May 22nd on Christian Smith’s Tronic Music.
